Staying on trend can get a little costly for anyone. Because size acceptance is "fairly" new, there aren't a conglomerate of company's that cater to my millennial plus size ladies. Now I don't claim to be an advocate for all curvy women but I know this is an untapped area. We've all heard of "the fat tax". If you're unaware of the term, here's the breakdown:

1. Be + Size

2. Shop trendy straight size stores

3. Pay $3 to $10 more for the same plus size garment in a larger size

Pink has just never been one of my favorite colors. Growing up my maternal aunt always (and still does) tried to convince me to wear the ultimate girliest colors: pink, fuchsia, pink. You get the picture. It just wasn't me or so I thought. These days it's becoming a staple in my wardrobe. I have more than I can count. Last week I decided that I would design a few pieces for me o wear to Full Figured Fashion Week and CURVYcon. This linen fabric had been in y stash for a while so I decided to just it off.



This florescent pink two piece was completed in two days. I love the loose fit of the fabric around the bust and waist. It's perfect for the Kurvy Kutie who wants to show a little skin but leave some for the imagination.

June 20, 2015 marked the first ever CURVYcon. This event was the brain child of two Full Figured advocates, Chasity "Garner Style" Valentine and CeCe Olisa. Their fresh, modern spin on fashion in the plus size industry brought women from various parts of the country. What was even more refreshing were all the millennial curvy fashonistas (including myself). And trust me there is nothing millennial women love more than fashion...well, and reality TV.




The curvy duo brought out brands such as Eloquii, Fashion to Form, Naki Muli, Ideel, Cushy b, Rebdolls, Modamix, Hooked Up, among others. The days shopping events also included panel discussions on love & relationships, fitness, fashion beyond the boardroom and a key note address from the beautiful and talented actress Amber Riley.

One of the most anticipated events of Full Figured Fashion week is the all white Curves at Sea cruise. This particular event had been sold out for weeks. But guess who woke up the day of purchased her ticket through +PayPal, hopped in a taxi and headed to Ashley Stewart on 125st in +Harlem NYC  to find a white ensemble? You guessed it, me. For weeks I was undecided about attending this event. I'll NEVER make that mistake again. I was one of the lucky ones. So many of us were looking for last minute tickets. A few days prior to the cruise there was a post on +Facebook with 10 additional tickets. Apparently not many people saw the post because everyday I checked, there were still tickets available. So at the very last minute I grabbed one. I'm so glad I decided to come and as long as I attend Full Figured Fashion Week this is one event I wont ever question.

Full Figured Fashion Week is the Oscars of the Plus Size industry. Every year Gwendolyn DeVoe, creates a bigger and better week. Last year we thought she was retiring but just like that, BAM! She's back and hasn't missed a beat. The pure fabulousness aboard the Hornblower Infinity Yacht was everything! The music, ambiance, the amazing views on the Hudson River, and of course the beautiful sea of white ensembles floating on deck, I couldn't have asked for more. Ms. DeVoe clearly out did herself. And to top it off, one of FFFWeek sponsors; Ashley Stewart, presented a fashion show from their 2015 white collection. And to think I was going to skip this event.
