Have Fun & Mix It Up | How to Shop Your Closet
Everyone has that favorite shirt that hugs you just right. Maybe it's little slimming or falls just right. Mine happen to be the pink crop I designed with a matching skater skirt. I loved this look. More importantly, I am in love with the crop top. If you are unable to tell from the pictures I'm a bit on the short side, standing at only 5'1. I'm also a member of the itty-bitty tittie committee. And this top holds the "girls" in all the right places. I get so excited when my "girls" are at their best. So I knew that this top needed more attention. I decided to Have Fun & Mix it UP.

Lately I've been using +Polyvore for inspiration and it's also been a source to help me shop my closet. For those of you unfamiliar with shopping your closet I'll give a brief explanation. We all wake up some mornings, riffle through our closets and utter those same unfortunate words "I don't have anything to wear". Sometimes true but mostly due to not realizing the full potential of our own wardrobe. Shopping your closet merely suggest you do just that. Its key to know exactly what you have in your closet. This way when you do head to the nearest mall duplicates wont be purchased.
How to Shop Your Closet
1. Pull key pieces in solid colors (Black, Red, Blue
etc.) such as slacks, shorts and jeans (in good condition). Skirts
and dresses don't necessarily need to be in solids.

If you are a plus size woman we tend
to run through jeans a little bit faster due to the inner thigh
rubbing. If your jeans need to be patched, it is my suggestion that you do
not include them on your "shopping spree".
2. I shop for my tops a little differently. Tops are placed in
3 categories: Neck to wrist (no skin showing), Cleavage, and Too hot for work.
Again all tops should be in good condition. No snags, wholes or missing
buttons.

It’s important to take a full
evaluation of what actually fits and what you’re just holding on to. We all do
it but anything that does not fit in that moment needs to be put to the side. Here
is no need to count something that you won’t be able t wear.
3. Next, put together normal everyday work and play
combinations together.

You will need to clear a spot on
your bed or a place to hang each outfit.
4. As evaluate your wardrobe now is the time to determine if
you actually need to shop. If you do take inventory of what you really need.
Maybe you need a solid pair of clacks, more neck to wrist shirts or additional
casual clothes.
5. The pile of clothes sitting to side are now on the chopping
block. Ladies, you’re going to have to put on your big girl underwear for this.
In order to keep your wardrobe updated and in good condition you have to get
rid of the loose ends.

Clothing that hasn’t been worn in
years. Gone.
·
Irreparable jeans. Gone.
·
Shirts that no longer fit your bust
or stomach Gone.
·
Shirt missing a button. Keep
·
1 size too small bottoms. Keep
·
Clothing you’ve never worn. Keep.
Only if it (still) fits. Is a staple piece. Can forever be in style.
6. Shoes should be organized into two groups: Classic and Fun.

Take in to account damaged heels,
scraped sides, and chipped color.

During my grandmothers time it was
common to utilize a cobbler in order to fix damaged shoes. Well that service
isn’t so cheap anymore and we tend to just get rid of them If you know a
cobber is not in your near future, just get rid of them.

There is an exception for designer
shoes. RUN to a cobbler, RIGHT NOW.
Now, shop that closet first before you go out and spend all your well earned money.
